Chatsworth Schools is delighted to share that Miss Rachel Bochenski, the current Head of Key Stage 2 at Hall School Wimbledon (HSW), has been appointed Head of The London Acorn School from September 2024.
This summer, Mrs Sarah Thorne will step down from her role as Head of the school she founded, The London Acorn School.
Sarah has worked closely with Chatsworth Schools and particularly Andrew Hammond and HSW since last summer to help The London Acorn become a fully integrated member of the Chatsworth Schools family.
On Sarah’s departure, Chatsworth Schools Director of Education, Graeme Delaney said “Sarah is committed to the values, ethos and unique feel of The London Acorn School and will continue to work tirelessly for all the children in her charge. Whilst there will be time later this term for “thank you” and goodbyes, I would like to take the opportunity now to thank Sarah for everything she has achieved at the school, from its very Founding to her unique and calming approach to Headship.
Rachel has already spent a lot of time at The London Acorn School since January 2024 as a part of HSW and The London Acorn School’s partnership and shared vision and will be working with Sarah to ensure a seamless handover. She looks forward to working closely with The London Acorn School community and HSW, to shape the vision and direction of the two schools as a genuine family, establishing core threads that will define a pupil’s experience at every stage.”
On her appointment Rachel said “Coming from The London Acorn School’s sister school, HSW, as Head of KS2, I am committed to the provision of high quality, inclusive education in southwest London. I believe that children deserve the peace and freedom to enjoy an unhurried education without pressure and at their own pace. I know that learning and achievement “stick” when children are happy and well adjusted. I look forward to working closely with the Head of HSW, Mr Andrew Hammond, to shape the vision and direction of the two schools as a genuine family, establishing core threads that will define a pupil’s experience at every stage.”
From September 2024, The London Acorn School will welcome children from Kindergarten to Year 4, HSW will welcome children from Year 5 to Year 13. Children attending The London Acorn School will be guaranteed places at HSW from Year 5 should they wish to take advantage of the TLAS/HSW non-selective, tailored and wellbeing focussed educational journey from 3 to 18.
